Contents of Mom's Purse

Keri Smith posted a request for entries regarding the contents of our bags because it tells much about a person.

Mine is very efficient. I never have more than one purse - I don't change up and they're usually black or brown. I force myself to carry a small bag so I'll clear it out more often and avoid back problems from carrying it. I have a man's wallet (more efficient for plastic and bills), my checkbook, a Mary Kay all in one makeup compact (containing a deep cantaloupe color lipstick) with mirror, a British Soldier red lipstick for my bold days, a coffee colored very moist lipstick for my subtle days, cinnamon flavor chewing gum because I LOATHE bad breath, a flippy thing with photos of my family, an emery board, my keys, a pen, a pencil, and a few business cards - just in case! My cell phone and sunglasses may be stuck in there from time to time, but they don't live there - just visit.

My Mom's purse always weighed like it contained 2 bowling balls! She swapped purses often, but never, EVER, cleaned them out! She carried wallet, makeup bag with about a dozen colors of lipsticks, comb, brush, tweezers(?), nail clippers, emery boards, Wrigley's Spearmint Gum, Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Gum, address book, notepad with randomly used and unused pages, pens, pencils, erasers (the big square kind), pressed powder, earrings that might have become wearisome in the day's travels and needed to be removed, peppermint candies, TONS of loose change that didn't make it into the changepurse, scads of receipts wadded into little paper balls (unless notes had been written on them or phone numbers), sketchpad, camera, rolls of used film needing to be developed, lint-brush, the occasional bottle of nail polish (might need a little "culluh"), WADS of tissues ready for the impromptu crying spell (?), and a .22 calibre revolver (yes, Mama packed heat, and knew how to use it.) (The only time I ever saw her use her gun was to kill a rattlesnake in the yard to protect her babies.)

That was fun! What's in your bag?
